Upgraded Infrastructure – ensure proper attention to basic services and the infrastructure to produce an up-to-date infrastructure system vital for economic development.

  • Execute the plan in place to invest in neighborhoods and a sustainable infrastructure
  • Move towards more “pay as you go” funding to avoid racking up debt

I believe in limited, responsible government. To that end, I am especially demanding that the proper roles of government are not only fulfilled, but done well. One of the basic elements of responsible government is tending to infrastructure. We’ve heard a lot of lip service on this issue over years, but we’ve finally started walking the talk.

I campaigned extensively on this issue when I initially entered public service, as the City was woefully underfunding road repairs. Our roads and neighborhoods were crumbling into disrepair. In fact, the City had over $60 million in deferred street repairs, and was spending virtually zero dollars for curb or sidewalk repairs. I am pleased to note that the road and neighborhood improvements budget has been quintupled—yes, quintupled. We have achieved this while also retiring our road bonds, meaning we have achieved “pay as you go.” Rather than racking up debt, we can sustainably pay for more improvements going forward. A lot still has to be done, and a major reason I am running for reelection is to see this plan through
